Great pub with an outdoor area. Nice beer selection ans friendly staff. Cash only💵
I used to live down the street from this spot many years ago, and had the chance to visit while in town. Still cash only. Same feel. Friendly bartender. Beer selection has definitely changed in 15 years, but, ya know, what can one expect. Good times, nice to have spots like this, and Charlie's Kitchen, that are solid and familiar.
They are very hospitable and everything was great!
The patio is open, cash only.
Basic affordable dive bar, popular hang out for comedians
Rustic pub with good vibe, variety of beers, and very good food, burgers, fish'n chips, etc.
Great place to watch the World Cup outside. They need to CLR the TV though. Cash Only.
Nice spot, great drinks , nice food and customer service very respectful
Exceptional and tasty food, I liked the character the spot has, and the workers were super friendly. Will surely visit here when I’m around.
Central square's gem. The field is our rendezvous point and has been the case for last two years. Everything about this place embodies joy and happiness. Great selection of food and other items.
Classic watering hole - bring cash!
Great Irish bar. Interesting scotch or two. Pool table. Fun neighborhood hangout. Cash only though.
Food was ok, forgot parts of my meal but we're quick to bring it to me when I told them. It's cash only which is kind of a bummer. Small selection of beers but the choices were pretty good.
Pretty solid dive with a better-than-expected tap list.
Great place for a cheap drink and game of pool. Selection isn't very large and the bar is cash-only but it's exactly what you would expect. In summer, there is a nice outside area in back. There's also a pretty good selection of bar food, which is nice if you get there early enough to secure a table.
Same owners of White Horse Tavern and the Last Drop, the red front ties them all together. Solid Irish pub with matching football and Guinness on tap. Can't speak for the food...dont really come for that.
The meals and service were above our expectations. I really loved the atmosphere of this place. Superb restaurant to take the family out for lunch.
The Field is one of the greats. As far as dive bars go it's a Cambridge institution. Darts, pool and $3.50 PBR tall boys. Other than a card reader, the Field has it all!
If you are looking for an Irish pub probably this place is fine. I myself have a soft spot for such a place and wish them well.
Come here often with friends for Friday after work beers. The food is pretty unremarkable, but beers are not too expensive. When the weather is good, their patio is nice to spend time in, if you can find a table. They have a pool table, but it's a bit hard to play since space is limited. The absence of loud music and the fact that it's not too crowded makes it easy to chat with your friends without yelling, which is a plus to me.
Extremely inconsiderate management and wait staff that were quite rude and didn't give patrons the time of day and decided that they would discriminate against certain types of people. Also the pool table didn't work. Complete trash
To the field : I worked there for over a year . Nice and helpful employees. Although Very disrespectful managements staff's . I would never go back to that bar indeed . I also felt like they were prejudice in some ways . Just my experience working there !!
The service here sucks. I was there on a night that wasn’t busy and the wait staff acted like it was a burden to get me a beer. The servers quickly visited other new tables that arrived but chose to ignore my table. I kept making eye contact with the servers and even waved my hand to get their attention (which they saw). When I finally went up to order the waitress wasn’t even nice, seemed mad that I would even ask for a beer...at a bar.
Okay, so let me tell you about this place. It is the perfect mix of laid-back trash sort of bar and the most casual mix. The atmosphere is so relaxed and then people are low-key. The thing that I absolutely loved the most is the music selection. Every single song was the perfect balance of tasteful, yet slightly obscure; a true hipster's dream, if that's still even a thing. Overall, this bar is an enjoyable an experience
Classic Central Sq establishment. Quality Guinness pours. Great games. Cash only.
Great pub in central square, with some pool tables and a summer patio.
Great service, solid beer and whiskey selection, and you can't beat the outdoor patio.
My friend went here with some friends, and he was kicked out for hydrating from what appeared to be (but was not) a "hip flask". He finished his paid for drink, and was getting ready to bicycle home. He drank from his water bottle, and before he had a chance to say goodbye to his friends, a bar staff grabbed his arm and pulled him outside saying that he had to leave immediately because "we don't allow hip flasks here".
Food is good, relative to the cost. There's outside eating and cocktails. 2 /3 of the wait staff are good... definitely not their first rodeo. Not everyone is suited for that job. Great place for decent food. Generous portions. I'm glad I found it!
Cool bar, laid back great conversations, friendly staff. Definitely go again
This is my favorite place to hang out in Boston. Can’t wait to get back.
Great outdoor back patio for a really chill time. Note it is cash only and the interior is plain.
Terrible place. Very aggressive and rude staff. Excluding atmosphere. You are not very welcome if you are a minority.
Classic Irish bar, nothing fancy and that's fine
Great spot to throw some back
No frills Irish pub that's cash only. Nice stop for whoever is left in your party at the end of the night
Comfortable back patio, a pool table and a good draft list
Would give it 5 stars if they weren't cash only.
Atmosphere was good, and food was good too. Not the best food around, but when your drinking a pint of beer. It's exactly what you need.
My favorite haunt in central, the field was one of the first places I hung out when I moved to Boston. I can be anyone I want at the field. Very relaxed environment, I love how casual cool it is. They have 3 tequilas in their selection, not my taste but I come here for the people, the environment, and the free pool.
Had a fantastic experience in this place with my girlfriend. The food comes out rapidly and the customer service is just good. Prices are fair.
I have only been to this bar once. They are only cash only so if you're like me you'll be looking in your bag for your last few bucks or you'll be at the ATM machine. The bar tender was nice and the drinks were good. I did not have any food, so I can't comment on that.
JUST REMEMBER TO TAKE CASH. Really nice pub friendly employees I went there to have a good time and they made sure they make it happen. Also if you are a cocktail lover just tell them which one and they will make it for you or otherwise tell them how to make it they make sure you have it. Nice place thumbs up.
Awesome rustic Irish sports pub. Lots of fun stuff on display.
It is strange that the reviews for this place are generally good. I guess college kids don't need much to be impressed. Owner/manager is consistently rude and unreasonable. Cash only, and on-site ATM charged my account twice for a single withdrawal. Generally grim and unfriendly staff. I've been here three times and it has been the same story. I don't know how businesses like this can stay open. I guess it's because this area of the city does not really have a lot of options They are always happy to ID you, take your money, and then ask you to leave due to their undersized seating area being at capacity all night. Do yourself a favor and walk 1 minute over to the Little Donkey....or anywhere else. Use your money to support good people and good businesses. I rarely leave reviews, but the review system does not work unless people are honest, frank, and frequent with their feedback.
Great local pub. Pool table.
Played games. Great buffalo wings.
One of my favorite dives in the Boston area. The Field probably has one of the largest outdoor spaces in Boston making in a go-to destination in the summer. The drinks are cheap, well they're cheap for me because all I drink are $3.5 Narragansett Tall Boys. It's nice having a place in Cambridge where you can get a cheap drink, hangout side and get drunk for $20.The Field is a lost art in how bars operate. Please support their business Cash bar!
Service was kind of horrible. Very rude to certian people when i was there for event. We need to take this place of the list. Not much of wine option. Kinda of dark n depressing inside. But good on the back patio
Great food and service
